Education ~ Limited to career opportunities...

"Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world." These are the famous words of Nelson Mandela. Education always had a vital importance in the history, what remains to be seen is, how long it is to stay ? During the early Middle Ages, the monasteries of Roman Catholic Church were the centers of education and literacy, mainly in 1500 Ad. Education has evolved many generations  it helps us to develop our skills and permits us to learn more and more.

Today, education is limited to career opportunities and students are not open to anything new. Moreover. education has been confined to certain ideologies and no one thinks beyond them. Education has been restricted to certain subjects and no one wishes to study anything else. Why have we made a mimicry out of education ? Is this the lack of awareness or the pressure of the parents ? I guess both reasons are equally responsible.In Pakistan. people are not aware of a number of subjects which have great scope in future, namely; Journalism, Wild Life, GeneticsLiterature and many more. Students have no curiosity in such subjects as they have little information about them. Most parents have a tunnel vision and they have mindsets to make their child an engineer or accountant. On the other hand, students choose gender based subjects like many girls choose medical as their field. Moreover, the herd-mentality plays an important role in restricting students to certain subjects.

The prejudices can still be changed if we create awareness among the students. There are still many fields which are open for students in Pakistan and they can prosper a lot in those fields. Media can portray to instill in the minds of the students how they have right to choose subjects of their interest. Moreover, schools should give information to students regarding different fields of education and expertise can be hired for students counselling in course selection. Thus, i request the parents not to force their child to opt for specific or gender based career choice, rather they should encourage their kids to go for other fields of their preferences. Hence, education does not need evolution, it is the people ad their mentality which does. When our horizons are widened, our choices would be more intelligent and with greater liberty. An American poet; Maya Angelou said," When you know better you do better." So students, always keep yourselves aware of the different career opportunities in Pakistan.
